Guardian — Nullscape Enemy Guide

The Guardian is a heavily armored tank enemy in Nullscape that charges at players. Learn dodge timings, terrain exploits, and strategies to defeat it.

Guardian

Danger Rating: 4/5

The Guardian is a massive, armored brute that serves as a miniboss-tier threat in standard Nullscape runs. With towering health, heavy damage, and a devastating charge attack, the Guardian demands respect and careful positioning from any player who encounters one.

Behavior Pattern

Guardians patrol a set area slowly until the player enters their aggro range. Once engaged, they alternate between two primary attacks: a wide horizontal swipe and a forward charge. The swipe covers a large arc in front of the Guardian and has a brief wind-up telegraphed by a red glow. The charge is far more dangerous — the Guardian locks onto the player's position and rockets forward in a straight line, dealing massive damage on contact and destroying breakable terrain.

After a charge, the Guardian is briefly stunned for about 1.5 seconds, providing a critical damage window. It takes roughly 3–4 seconds between attacks to reposition, giving mobile players opportunities to chip away at its substantial HP pool.

Spawn Conditions

Guardians appear starting from Withered Expanse onward, typically spawning one per large room. In Bloom biomes (Patch 5), Guardians gain thorned armor that reflects a small amount of melee damage back to attackers. Extreme mode Guardians have approximately 60% more health and faster charge recovery.

Counters

  • Dodge sideways. The Guardian's charge travels in a straight line — lateral movement avoids it entirely.
  • Use terrain to your advantage. Lead charges into walls or pits for free stun windows and environmental damage.
  • Attack during the post-charge stun. This 1.5-second window is your primary damage phase.
  • Ranged weapons are preferred over melee to avoid thorned armor reflection in Bloom biomes.

Tips

Never fight a Guardian in a narrow corridor if you can help it. Open rooms with multiple platforms give you the space to kite and dodge effectively. If a Guardian spawns alongside Husks or other enemies, focus on clearing the adds first — the Guardian's slow speed means you can kite it while dealing with smaller threats. Pairing a Grapple item with Double Jump makes Guardian encounters almost trivial, as you can stay airborne through most of their attack cycle.
