Operator — Nullscape Enemy Guide

The Operator is a support enemy in Nullscape that buffs nearby foes. Learn why it's a priority target, its buff mechanics, and how to eliminate it fast.

Operator

Danger Rating: 3/5

The Operator is a support-type enemy in Nullscape that doesn't deal meaningful direct damage but dramatically enhances every other enemy around it. Ignoring an Operator is one of the most dangerous mistakes a player can make — a single Operator can turn a manageable group of Husks into a genuine threat. In Doom in Bloom, Operators received a significant rework that expanded their buff repertoire.

Behavior Pattern

Operators appear as tall, slender humanoid figures surrounded by a visible aura field. They stay near the back of enemy groups, positioning themselves behind frontline enemies. Every 5 seconds, they emit a pulse that applies buffs to all enemies within their aura radius:

  • Speed Boost: Increases enemy movement speed by 30%
  • Damage Boost: Increases enemy attack damage by 25%
  • Armor Boost: Reduces incoming damage to enemies by 20%

These buffs stack and persist for 8 seconds after leaving the aura, meaning even enemies that chase you away from the Operator retain enhanced stats for a brief period. In Patch 5, Operators gained a new Bloom buff that causes affected enemies to leave damaging thorns on death.

Operators themselves have low health and a weak melee slap, but they teleport away if the player gets within 3 tiles — making them frustrating to finish off.

Spawn Conditions

Operators spawn in medium-to-large rooms from Tier 2 onward. They have a 20% chance to appear in any room with 4 or more enemies. In Extreme mode, rooms can contain up to 2 Operators simultaneously. Bloom biome Operators have an expanded aura radius.

Counters

  • Eliminate Operators first. Always, always prioritize the Operator above any other enemy in the room.
  • Use ranged attacks. Operators teleport away from melee range — close the distance and use a ranged finisher.
  • Burst damage is key. The Operator's low HP means a high-damage weapon can kill it before it teleports.
  • Movement abilities help close gaps. Use dashes and jumps to reach the Operator before it repositions.

Tips

The golden rule of Nullscape: if you see an Operator, drop everything else and kill it. Every second it lives is a second your other enemies are getting stronger. In co-op, call out Operator positions immediately so your team can focus fire. The Grapple item is excellent for Operator elimination — you can zip directly to their position and finish them with a melee attack before the teleport triggers. If an Operator is buffing a Guardian, you're in a serious emergency — use any consumables or burst abilities you have to take it down instantly.
